In this special new edition of our walking tours, we journey through Echo Park and Angeleno Heights — one of Los Angeles’ most layered and cinematic historic districts, where Victorian-era ambition, cultural reinvention, and sweeping hillside views have shaped the city for more than a century. This walk invites you to slow down and experience Los Angeles through its topography, its architecture, and the everyday streets where the city’s identity has continually evolved.
Developed in the late nineteenth century as one of Los Angeles’ earliest streetcar suburbs, Angeleno Heights rose as a statement of optimism and aspiration — its ornate Victorian homes perched above a rapidly expanding city. Just beyond, Echo Park emerged as both residential enclave and civic landscape, anchored by its lake and later shaped by waves of immigration, artistic movements, activism, and cultural experimentation. Over the course of the experience, guests will walk approximately 2.5 miles while exploring the historic streets of Hancock Park, visiting architecturally significant homes, landmark residences, and notable neighborhood sites.
